single class format
This option is ideal if you can’t commit to the trimester format and need more flexibility. Single classes are booked in advance within the available time slots, which depend on the free spots remaining in the weekly groups after the students in trimester format have enrolled. You’ll have access to a calendar where you can see the available spots for each day, and you can book classes according to the time you have.
As always in my classes, each person works on the projects that interest them most, according to their level. If you’re starting from zero, you’ll gradually move forward from simple projects to basic garments. If you’ve sewn before, we’ll work on the topics you want to explore in more depth: you can propose your own project and we’ll review it together, or I can recommend what the next step would be to help you advance in your learning journey.
Everyone is different, and my goal is for the class curriculum to adapt to you. At the studio, we have many resources to inspire you to create your perfect wardrobe, in your size and according to your tastes.
Groups
Mornings
Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-12h and 12-14h
Evenings
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 16.30-18.30h and 18.30-20.30h
The price for one single class is 25€ and a bundle of five single classes is 110€ (each class is 2h long).
You can check the availability in groups and reserve your single class by writing to hola@studiocostura.com
The class fee includes the teaching hours and the use of basic sewing tools such as the sewing machine, scissors, rulers, thread, tracing paper, etc. Materials like fabrics are not included in the price; each student brings their own materials (before each new project we go over what you’ll need, and I’ll advise you on the type of fabric required and where to buy it). In sewing classes, patternmaking from scratch is not taught, but we do modify existing patterns so they can be adapted to each student’s taste and size (you can bring your own patterns, and we also have prepared patterns available at the studio).
Terms and conditions for the single classes:
Group spots are very limited; there are only four students per group.
All single classes must be confirmed in advance by email at least 48 hours beforehand (you will have access to a calendar where you can check available spots for each day).
Attendance is confirmed only after the reservation payment has been made.
The single class bundle is valid for 6 months from the date of first class.
Once a single class or class bundle has been paid for, the amount is non-refundable.
Classes can only be rescheduled if the student notifies us at least 48 hours in advance; with less notice, the class cannot be rescheduled.
Recovery classes must be scheduled within the same month, and scheduling depends on available space in other groups.
The classes take place at Studio Costura
Metro L5 Pirámides/Marqués de Vadillo

student reviews
“I cannot recommend Karu’s classes more highly! I started as an absolute beginner—I had never touched a sewing machine before— and came to her class with a specific project I hoped to do in mind. She empowered me to feel like the project was possible and helped me make it happen in just a few weeks. She is such a good teacher; patient, kind, and generous. Her classes are very small (mine were all max four people), so you get the benefit of feeling like you’re in a private lesson with 1-on-1 attention while also getting to be with people and see each others’ projects and cheer each other on. I am leaving Madrid, and I am truly devastated that I won’t be able to keep taking classes with Karu (forever!). With that said, in just a month I learned so much from her. She gave me the confidence and skills to start learning to sew for the first time and now to keep sewing on my own. Thank you so much Karu, I truly feel like your classes changed my life!”
“I’ve loved my time at Studio Costura! Karu is the most amazing teacher. She is very communicative and takes her time to explain everything in much detail, support and help throughout the sewing process! I’ve definitely learned multiple things during my time with her, and I 100% suggest her, for anyone who’s interested in exploring the art of sewing”
“Karu is a talented, professional sewing instructor who teaches in Spanish and English. I took lessons from her this passed spring and have gained much needed confidence. She is a patient, creative, and clear teacher, combining her machine sewing skills and creativity to guide students through their projects. Karu is also a great resource for all things related to sewing - patterns, fabric, tools, shops, etc.”
“Genuinely could not recommend this place enough! Going in I was a bit nervous cause I had never touched a sewing machine before, but Karu was exceptionally helpful and patient during all three classes and explained everything untill I understood, making the whole experience comfortable and fun from the beginning. I’m going to miss it now that i’m leaving Madrid!”

Why should you choose Studio Costura sewing classes?
Projects that fit your size
In the classes, you’ll be able to sew projects that match your interests while I guide you to ensure they suit your skill level. When it comes to sewing clothing, I will recommend patterns and materials so you can complete a project that fits you well and feels comfortable, regardless of your size.
Personalized attention
The groups have a maximum of four students, so you’ll receive my full attention at all times and you’ll be able to progress at your own pace. My goal is to teach you exactly what you need as you advance, regardless of your starting level.
Wide experience
I’ve been teaching sewing in in-person classes since 2015, both in Spain and in other countries. I have experience in industrial garment construction, I am a pattern maker, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with many students on all kinds of projects.
Aside from being my job, sewing is also my favorite hobby, and I love experimenting and sharing it with others. You can read more about me here and follow me on Instagram to see my sewing projects.
We share more than sewing
The weekly classes are a unique way to connect with other people who sew. You’ll find that there’s a great atmosphere, where you can share much more than just the learning experience. You’ll feel welcomed and become part of a special community.
