Some reviews from Students

Genuinely could not recommend this place enough! Going in I was a bit nervous cause I had never touched a sewing machine before, but Karu was exceptionally helpful and patient during all three classes and explained everything untill I understood, making the whole experience comfortable and fun from the beginning. I’m going to miss it now that i’m leaving Madrid!
— Amelie Mahoney
In addition to being a talented pattern maker, Karu is a great sewing teacher. Through different formats - a one day lingerie workshop and later regular classes - I learned so much from her on all things sewing: sewing techniques, changes to patterns, fabric choices, etc etc. Her expertise and teaching style make the classes interesting and instructive for both beginners and more advanced sewists. is If you are in Madrid or passing through, I can 100% recommend her classes and workshops!

Lessons with Karu has been such an amazing experience. I was nervous at first learning to sew in Spanish but she also offers them for English speakers.

Giving me the confidence not only to sew in class but start my own projects at home. She is skilful, encouraging and fantastic teacher. I always look forward to classes and I would totally recommend!
Many thanks for everything Karu <3
— Zaire Monite
I cannot recommend Karu’s classes more highly! I started as an absolute beginner—I had never touched a sewing machine before— and came to her class with a specific project I hoped to do in mind. She empowered me to feel like the project was possible and helped me make it happen in just a few weeks. She is such a good teacher; patient, kind, and generous. Her classes are very small (mine were all max four people), so you get the benefit of feeling like you’re in a private lesson with 1-on-1 attention while also getting to be with people and see each others’ projects and cheer each other on. I am leaving Madrid, and I am truly devastated that I won’t be able to keep taking classes with Karu (forever!). With that said, in just a month I learned so much from her. She gave me the confidence and skills to start learning to sew for the first time and now to keep sewing on my own. Thank you so much Karu, I truly feel like your classes changed my life!

Why should you choose to take classes at Studio Costura?

Projects that work well for you

In the classes, you’ll be able to sew projects based on your preferences, while I guide you to ensure they match your skill level. When it comes to sewing clothes, I’ll recommend patterns and materials so you can complete a project that fits well and feels comfortable, regardless of your size.

Personalized attention

The groups have a maximum of four students, so you will receive my full attention at all times, allowing you to progress at your own pace. My goal is to teach you what you need as you advance, regardless of your starting level.

Wide experience

Since 2015, I’ve been teaching sewing in in-person classes both in Spain and abroad. I have experience in industrial garment making, I’m a pattern designer, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with many students on all kinds of projects.

Sewing is not only my profession but also my favorite hobby, and I love experimenting and sharing it with others. You can read more about me here and follow me on Instagram to see my sewing projects.

We share more than sewing

The weekly classes offer a unique way to connect with others who sew. You’ll find that a lovely environment is created, where much more than just learning is shared. You’ll feel welcome and become part of a special community.
