2025, what a year. I did manage to write a recap post of my sewing last year, so I’m ready to make it a tradition. After all, two years in a row would be something. I actually started to document some stuff in hopes of making this a trimester tradition (I have a joyful draft from March), but I guess that was too optimistic considering, well, time and all.
As my professional life is tightly related to my personal life (perks of running your own business), I have to first say that this year has been wild, and my “personal” sewing time has been majorly impacted by two (wonderful) new things. First, in March I opened my very own studio here in Madrid, and then in September I started studying in a patternmaking program. Both of these things took up a very big part of my time, and most of my personal projects took a back seat during the second part of the year.
The good thing about reviews made over a longer period than just a week or a month is that you actually get a bigger picture. I tend to have tunnel vision about short-term stuff, and obviously right now it feels like I’ve had zero fun crafty times this year. But that’s not true. Thanks to this yearly recap, I was reminded that there was once a summer, and that I have some nice skirts and tops for when it eventually comes back. So let’s see what I made!
2025, qué año. Conseguí escribir una entrada de resumen sobre mis proyectos del año pasado, así que estoy lista para convertirlo en una tradición. Total, dos años seguidos sería todo un logro. De hecho, empecé a documentar algunas cosas con la esperanza de convertirlo en una tradición trimestral (tengo un borrador alegre del mes de marzo), pero supongo que era demasiado optimista teniendo en cuenta, bueno, el tiempo y todo eso.
Como mi vida profesional está muy relacionada con mi vida personal (ventajas de tener tu propio negocio), tengo que decir primero que este año ha sido una locura y que mi tiempo “personal” para coser se ha visto muy afectado por dos cosas nuevas (muy guays las dos). Primero, en marzo abrí mi propio estudio aquí en Madrid y, luego, en septiembre empecé a estudiar en una formación de patronaje. Ambas cosas han ocupado gran parte de mi tiempo, y la mayoría de mis proyectos personales han quedado en segundo plano durante la segunda parte del año.
Lo bueno de los resúmenes que abarcan un periodo más largo que una semana o un mes es que realmente te dan una visión más amplia. Tiendo a tener una visión muy estrecha de las cosas a corto plazo y, obviamente, ahora mismo me parece que este año no he tenido buenos ratos de costuras solo para mí. Pero eso no es verdad. Gracias a este resumen anual, he recordado que hubo un verano y que tengo algunas faldas y blusas bonitas para cuando vuelvan los tiempos buenos. Así que vamos a ver, qué he hecho.
garments // prendas
Let’s start with this outfit I really like. My absolute favorite garment from this year was this wearable muslin of the Paynter jacket (a pattern by Merchant and Mills), which I actually do have a separate blog post about, with all the details, that you can read here.
The skirt is a bias skirt pattern based on a pattern I traced from a skirt from Uniqlo, made in a viscose twill I got last year from Encants, Barcelona (check the Barcelona fabric shopping blog post here). I didn’t love this one when I made it, but then I let it sit for a month or so and I started to like it. It’s a very good technique—it has worked with other projects in the past too, lol.
The crossbody bag is another project that turned out exactly as I had hoped: the pattern is the Balance Pouch by Incomplete Stitches, and the sturdy canvas fabric is from Mina Mina (Barcelona). It took some hand sewing for the interior bias binding, but every bit was worth it. I love this neutral piece so much!
The only downside to this whole outfit? I live in a city with very little time for light layers like the Paynter—it’s either too hot or too cold. But hey, when the day comes, I have my jacket!
Empezamos con este conjunto que me gusta mucho. Mi prenda favorita de este año fue esta prueba de la chaqueta Paynter (un patrón de Merchant and Mills), sobre la que tengo una entrada aparte en el blog con todos los detalles, que puedes leer aquí.
La falda es un patrón de falda al bies basado en un patrón que saqué de una falda de Uniqlo, cosida en sarga de viscosa que compré el año pasado en Encants, Barcelona (puedes ver la entrada del blog sobre tiendas de telas en Barcelona aquí). No me gustó mucho cuando la hice, pero luego la dejé reposar durante un mes, más o menos, y empezó a gustarme. Es una técnica muy buena, que también me ha funcionado con otros proyectos en el pasado, jaja.
El bolso riñonera es otro proyecto que ha salido exactamente como esperaba: el patrón es el Balance Pouch de Incomplete Stitches y la tela es una loneta muy fuerte de Mina Mina (Barcelona). Tuve que coser a mano el bies interior, pero mereció la pena. Me encanta esta pieza que va con todo!
El único inconveniente de todo este conjunto? Vivo en una ciudad en la que no existe el entretiempo para llevar chaquetas ligeras como la Paynter: o hace demasiado calor o demasiado frío. Pero bueno, cuando llegue el día, yo tengo mi chaqueta!
I made two other linen skirts with the same bias pattern too. The lighter stone-washed linen is from Cal Joan (online) and the darker blue from Ribes i Casals in Madrid (check the Madrid fabric shopping guide here) . On the right, it’s worn with a black rib knit Weiland tank (pattern by Elbe Textiles), which was a garment I wore so much this year. On the left, it’s worn with a white linen jersey knit Blomma tank (a free pattern by Paradise Patterns); the fabric is from Cal Joan. I also made another Blomma tank with grey rib knit and a black linen knit.
También hice otras dos faldas de lino con el mismo patrón al bies. El lino más claro, lavado a la piedra, es de Cal Joan (online) y el azul más oscuro de Ribes i Casals en Madrid (puedes leer la guía de tiendas de telas de Madrid aquí). A la derecha, lo llevo con un top negro de tirantes de punto canalé (Weiland tank, patrón de Elbe Textiles), una prenda que he usado mucho este año. A la izquierda, la llevo con un top de punto de lino blanco roto (patrón gratuito de Paradise Patterns, Blomma tank); la tela es de Cal Joan. También hice otro top con ese patrón con punto canalé gris y otro en punto de lino negro.
Another skirt I wore a lot this summer was this floral wrap skirt. The pattern is the Peppermint Wrap Skirt by Peppermint Magazine, designed by In the Folds. The fabric is a flowy viscose bought from Encants, and I also had enough extra to make a Donna blouse (a pattern by La Maison Victor). I would like to make more wrap skirts like this one—maybe another straight one in a solid color and another one with more flare in a print. Wrap skirts are great for changing body measurements (hello bloating), so I’m always up for another one.
Otra falda que me puse mucho este verano fue esta falda cruzada con estampado floral. El patrón es el Peppermint Wrap Skirt de Peppermint Magazine, diseñado por In the Folds. La tela es una viscosa fluida que compré en Encants, y también me sobró suficiente para hacer una blusa Donna (un patrón de La Maison Victor). Me gustaría hacer más faldas cruzadas como esta, quizá otra recta en un color liso y otra con más vuelo con algún estampado. Las faldas cruzadas van genial para los cambios en las medidas del cuerpo (hola, una medida por la mañana, y otra 4 cm más grande por la noche), así que siempre tengo la siguiente en mi lista de cosas que coser.
Two other skirts I made this year were sewn during the patternmaking course. The plaid one is made using my custom block (fabric is from Teixits i Retalls), and the black one is a copy of a RTW skirt (fabric is a stretch twill from Ratucos), also adapted to my block. Finally, some structured skirts with proper waistbands that don’t ride up when wearing them, because the waist/hip ratio is actually accurate!
Las otras dos faldas que hice este año las cosí durante el curso de patronaje. La de cuadros (con tela de Teixits i Retalls) está hecha con mi patrón base a medida, y la negra es una copia de una falda comprada (con sarga elástica de Ratucos), también adaptada a mi patrón. Por fin, unas faldas estructuradas con cinturillas que no se suben al llevarlas puestas, porque la medida entre la cintura y la cadera es la correcta.
I made only one dress, but it got tons of wear. The pattern is a copy of a RTW dress I’ve already used a couple of times for other similar dresses, and the fabric is another flowy viscose from Encants.
Solo hice un vestido, pero lo usé muchísimo. El patrón es una copia de un vestido comprado que ya he usado un par de veces para otros vestidos similares, y la tela es otra viscosa con mucha caída de Encants.
I made a couple of pairs of pants too. First, these Dawn jeans, pattern by Megan Nielsen. It’s a dark-wash denim from Ribes i Casals (Madrid), and they are impossible to photograph, but I did add some cute pocket linings and burgundy overlocking and everything. I really like how these turned out (I’ve used this pattern many times before and I love the fit and instructions), but the fabric ended up having this weird texture. There’s something oddly scratchy on the inside, and I’m not even a person with sensitive skin. So unfortunately, these are now on the sample rack at the studio.
También hice un par de pantalones. Primero, estos Dawn jeans, patrón de Megan Nielsen. Es un vaquero oscuro de Ribes i Casals (Madrid), y son imposibles de fotografiar, pero le añadí un forro floral en los bolsillos y un remallado en burdeos y todo. Me gusta mucho cómo han quedado (he utilizado este patrón muchas veces y me encanta el ajuste y las instrucciones), pero la tela tiene una textura extraña. Hay algo que pica un poco por dentro, y eso que no tengo la piel sensible. Por desgracia, ahora están en el perchero de muestras del estudio.
I made two pairs of Mitchell trousers, a pattern by Closet Core. I really like this type of pleat and the waistband construction featuring a facing finish. The blue pair was made with Tencel twill (from Ribes i Casals), and the black pair is a linen from Teixits i Retalls. I didn’t own wide-leg pants like these before, and this experiment opened up a whole new pants world for me, especially for summer. Temperatures are very high in Madrid, and I didn’t really have any heat-appropriate pants until making these, so I’m happy to have some alternatives to dresses and skirts.
Hice dos pares de pantalones Mitchell, un patrón de Closet Core. Me gusta mucho este tipo de pliegues y la confección de la cintura con acabado de vista en vez de cinturilla. El par azul está hecho con sarga de Tencel (de Ribes i Casals) y el negro con lino de Teixits i Retalls. Nunca había tenido pantalones anchos como estos, y este experimento me ha abierto un mundo nuevo en cuanto a pantalones, especialmente para el verano. Las temperaturas son muy altas en Madrid, y hasta que hice estos pantalones no tenía ninguno bueno para llevar con el calor, así que estoy contenta de tener algunas alternativas a los vestidos y las faldas.
Now onto tops. I made this burgundy rib knit wrap top that looks cute but somehow still ended up “not being my color”—surprise to no one who knows me, haha (the pattern is self-drafted and the fabric is from Casa de Retall). I need to make another one, as I love the style, probably in white or a similar color. I actually already had one of these in old pink in my wardrobe, made last year, but the fabric developed tons of pilling that was impossible to remove neatly, so I had to let it go. I hope my third version will be the winner, because a good wrap top is as nice to have as a good wrap skirt.
I also copied another RTW long-sleeve top with this mystery stripe knit (from Teixits i Retalls), trying to match the stripes, which was not an easy mission as they were not straight at all. I had quite a bit of fabric, so I also used it as a muslin for the Jesse tee, a free pattern from True Bias. And there was another long-sleeve top made with one of my long time stash fabrics with this interesting grid texture.
Ahora pasemos a las blusas. Hice esta blusa cruzada de punto canalé en color burdeos que es bonita, pero que al final “no es mi color”, lo cual no sorprende a nadie que me conozca, jaja (el patrón es uno que he hecho yo y la tela es de Casa de Retall). Tengo que hacer otra, porque me encanta el estilo, probablemente en blanco o un color similar. De hecho, ya tenía una de estas en rosa en mi armario, hecha el año pasado, pero a la tela le salieron un montón de pelotillas y era imposible quitarlas sin que quede mal, así que tuve que deshacerme de ella. Espero que mi tercera versión sea la ganadora, porque un buen top cruzado es igual de útil que una falda cruzada.
También copié otro top de manga larga cosida con este punto de rayas con la composición desconocida (de Teixits i Retalls), intentando hacer coincidir las rayas, lo cual no fue una tarea fácil, ya que no eran nada rectas. Tenía bastante tela, así que también la utilicé como prueba para la camiseta Jesse, un patrón gratuito de True Bias. Y hubo un top más de manga larga, usando una tela que tiene una textura de cuadraditos que me gusta mucho, llevaba un buen rato en el armario desde que lo compré.
I made two blouses using free patterns and they were left as class samples. The beige one is a double gauze version of the Declic pattern by Atelier Scammit, and the green gingham one is the upper part of the Bardon dress, a pattern by Peppermint Magazine designed by Elbe Textiles (it was free when I made it, but it’s not free anymore).
This Elbe Textiles Gibbons slip dress blouse, cut on the bias, was made from another already existing bias linen dress project that I ended up not liking. I like the blouse in photos, but I’m not crazy about it in real life—we’ll see how it feels after winter hibernation, haha.
Hice dos blusas utilizando patrones gratuitos, luego se han quedado como muestras de clase. La beige es una versión de doble gasa del patrón Declic de Atelier Scammit, y la verde de cuadros vichy es la parte superior del vestido Bardon, un patrón de Peppermint Magazine diseñado por Elbe Textiles (era gratuito cuando lo hice, pero ya no lo es).
Esta blusa de patrón Gibbons de Elbe Textiles, cortada al bies, la hice a partir de otro proyecto ya existente de un vestido de lino al bies que al final no me gustó. La blusa me gusta en las fotos, pero no me entusiasma en la vida real; ya veremos qué tal me sienta después de la hibernación invernal, jeje.
This floral boat-neck blouse, the drop-shoulder top, and a jacket (all made in viscose) were patternmaking exercises during my studies this fall.
Esta blusa floral con cuello barco, el top con hombros caídos y una chaqueta (todos hechos en viscosa) fueron ejercicios de patronaje durante mis estudios este otoño.
Technically in the pants category, I also made a PJ set, which I then separated—giving the blouse to my sister and keeping the pants for myself (the lace and polka dot combination seemed like a good idea, but once it was done, it was too much for me, haha). Only a “cat on top” photo of this project exists, but I wear the pants a lot. I used a viscose knit with stretch in only one direction (from Teixits i Retalls), and it works perfectly for this type of garment.
Right now, I mostly wear these with an off-white sweatshirt I made during the patternmaking program. I used a mystery knit fabric I once got from a remnant sale from a lingerie manufacturer, and I’d say it has some wool in the composition—it’s just so nice and warm, but not in a polyester kind of way. These two don’t match in color, but they match in my interests (comfort!), so I consider that a win, haha.
Técnicamente, dentro de la categoría de pantalones, también hice un conjunto de pijama, que luego separé: le di la blusa a mi hermana y me quedé con los pantalones (la combinación de encaje y lunares me pareció una buena idea, pero una vez terminado, me pareció demasiado para mí, jaja). Solo existe una foto con “un gato encima de cosas” de este proyecto, pero uso mucho los pantalones. Usé un punto de viscosa con elasticidad en una sola dirección (de Teixits i Retalls), y funciona perfectamente para este tipo de prenda.
Ahora mismo, los uso principalmente con una sudadera en blanco roto que hice durante el curso de patronaje como ejercicio. Usé un punto misterioso que compré una vez en una venta de restos de un fabricante de lencería, y diría que tiene algo de lana en su composición, ya que es muy agradable y cálido, pero no como el poliéster. Estos dos no combinan en color en absoluto, pero sí en mis intereses (la comodidad!), así que lo considero un acierto, jaja.
As someone who works a lot with lingerie sewing, I didn’t sew much of it for myself this year (it’s mostly samples and things not in my size). I did do some batch sewing of knit undies with narrow lace trim for myself, as I also made a tutorial about it, and that was a good way to finally get some new ones. I used Vera panties sewing pattern with bamboo and Tencel knits from my shop.
Trabajo mucho con cosas de lencería, pero de costumbre, este año no he cosido mucho para mí (la mayoría son muestras y cosas que no son de mi talla). Sí que hice una buena cantidad de bragas de punto con encaje estrecho para mí, ya que también hice un tutorial sobre ello para el curso online de bragas, y fue una buena forma de conseguir por fin unos pares nuevos. Usé el patrón de bragas Vera con punto de bambú y Tencel de mi tienda.

I made a couple of things for my daughter too, sticking to my favorite hardworking categories: outerwear, sleepwear, and swimwear.
She had outgrown her softshell jacket, so I made her a new one—in yellow, as instructed by her. It’s a cool jacket, but it was so much more work to make everything look nice in a solid, light-colored fabric like this. The topstitching is very visible, and a little print wouldn’t hurt to hide some mistakes, haha. I ended up ordering the fabric from Takoy (Slovakia), as no other shops here in Spain had yellow softshell. The pattern is heavily modified from Ottobre Design 1/2023.
También hice un par de cosas para mi hija, ciñéndome a mis categorías favoritas: ropa de abrigo, ropa de dormir y ropa de baño.
Se le había quedado pequeña la chaqueta softshell, así que le hice una nueva, en amarillo, tal y como me pidió. Es una chaqueta muy chula, pero me costó mucho más trabajo conseguir que todo quedara bien con una tela lisa y de color claro como esta. Las costuras son muy visibles, y un estampado pequeño no estaría mal para ocultar algunos errores, jeje. Al final, pedí la tela a Takoy (Eslovaquia), ya que ninguna otra tienda aquí en España tenía softshell amarillo. El patrón es uno muy modificado de Ottobre Design 2023/1.
The swimsuit is an annual (last-minute) summer project. The fabric is from Encants, and the pattern is from Ottobre Design (more about swimsuit projects for her in this post).

The PJ pants were made from this amazing Pippi fabric I got from Elvelyckan Design a couple of years back. I had already made her a hoodie with this fabric combined with another knit, but I still had leftovers and managed to squeeze out a pair of pants, adding rib knit cuffs. I’m still not accustomed to the fact that her size is 152 cm now, so “squeezing” things out of remnants is actually complicated. Ten points for this print—it takes me straight back to my childhood, so it was a 100% nostalgic buy, haha.
Los pantalones del pijama están hechos con esta increíble tela de Pippi que compré en Elvelyckan Design hace un par de años. Ya le había hecho una sudadera con capucha con esta tela combinada con otro punto, pero aún me sobraban restos y conseguí sacar un par de pantalones, añadiéndoles unos puños. Todavía no me acostumbro al tema de que ahora mida 152 cm, así que “sacar partido” a los restos es bastante complicado. Diez puntos para este estampado: me transporta directamente a mi infancia, así que fue una compra 100 % nostálgica, jaja.

We launched the Tote Bag pattern with Laola this year, so I made a couple of bags for the instruction photos and launch images. Some I use myself, some were gifted, and some are class samples.
Este año sacamos el patrón Tote Bag con Laola, así que hice un par de bolsos para las fotos de las instrucciones y las imágenes de lanzamiento. Algunos los uso yo misma, otros los regalé y otros son muestras para las clases.
I also made this zipper pouch (instructions here), this mini version of the Project Bag by Laola and the crossbody Balance Pouch I mentioned in the beginning of the post.

quilting / acolchados
I made a baby quilt as a gift and really liked it. The baby’s name is Alba (in English dawn), and the scene has the colors of that early stage of the day. It made me want to spend more time quilting (something I think about every year).
Hice una colcha de bebé como regalo y me gustó mucho. La niña se llama Alba y la escena tiene los colores de ese momento temprano del día. Me hizo querer tener más tiempo para acolchar (algo que pienso todos los años).
I also made a small holiday-inspired piece I was planning to use on the studio door. But at the very last minute, I managed to get a small stain on it (I think it might have been a cotton seed from the batting, because I definitely didn’t have anything else nearby when it happened). I tried to cover the stain with some hand stitching, but it still didn’t look good, so I said a couple of not-so-nice words, got some branches from the flower shop for the door, and called it a day.
También hice una pequeña pieza navideña que pensaba usar para la puerta del estudio. Pero en el último momento, se manchó un poco (creo que pudo haber sido una semilla de algodón de la guata, porque no tenía nada más cerca cuando pasó esto). Intenté cubrir la mancha con algunas puntadas a mano, pero seguía sin quedar bien, así que pronuncié un par de palabras que no voy a escribir aquí, compré unas ramas en la floristería para la puerta y se acabó el rollo.
I did manage to make some pretty cool oven mitts as last-minute family gifts, and I even used a layer of Insul Fleece to make them nicely heat-resistant. The free pattern I used is from Made Everyday, and I definitely need to make a set for my own home too. I first started with a pot holder, which I did keep for myself, but the mitts are better.
Sí que conseguí hacer unas manoplas de cocina muy chulos como regalo de última hora para la familia, e incluso utilicé una capa de guata térmica de la marca Insul Fleece para que fueran bien resistentes al calor (lo compré en Komola Crafts en Madrid que tiene buena selección de este tipo de cosas). El patrón gratuito que utilicé es de Made Everyday, y tengo que hacer un juego para mi propia casa también. Empecé el tema de regalos con una manopla rectangular, que me quedé para mí, pero los de tipo guante son mejores.

I made a couple of new pincushions for the machines (tutorial here), and a proper pressing ham that I’m very happy with (free pattern by Cornelius Quiring). For home, I made some placemats with a cute resin-coated print I found at GingerTea.
Hice un par de alfileteros nuevos para las máquinas (tutorial aquí) y una almohadilla para planchar muy buena con la que estoy muy contenta (patrón de Cornelius Quiring). Para casa, hice unos manteles individuales con este estampado guay con una tela resinada que encontré en GingerTea.
other crafts / otros labores
Not my most productive year in knitting, but I’ve still been doing it as much as my tired self could manage. I haven’t even updated Raverly, something I will regret in the future, lol. As for sweaters, I finished one and have two others not far from the finish line.
Unfortunately, the gray cardigan I finished did not turn out as I had envisioned. I improvised the measurements and paid the price: the neckline turned out huge, and my attempts to fix it were unsuccessful. The overall shape is off too, and I’m debating whether to unravel it and reuse the yarn, as I do love how it feels (it’s Saona (cotton/wool) by Wooldreamers together with mohair from Rowan). It was boring to knit, and the result was, well, disappointing—definitely not motivating. I laugh in order to not cry.
Thankfully, the other two projects have been working out better so far (both still need finishing, so fingers crossed). The beige one is Haworth by Jonna Helin, made in Wooldreamers Saona (wool/ cotton) together with Fine Lace (alpaca) from Rowan. The green one is the Cumulus Blouse by PetiteKnit, in Rosários Balada (merino and silk).
I also just finished a scarf using a lace pattern from one of my mom’s old Estonian books, knit with a baby alpaca, linen, and silk blend from Yarnitas. It reminded me why I don’t knit scarves—they are so long, lol. I also knit a hat with a pretty speckled yarn, but I don’t have finished photos of it.
No ha sido mi año más productivo en cuanto a tejer se refiere, pero he seguido haciéndolo tanto como mi cansancio nocturno me lo ha permitido. De jerséis, he terminado uno y tengo otros dos a punto de acabar.
Por desgracia, el cárdigan gris que terminé no ha salido como había imaginado. Improvisé las medidas y pagué el precio correspondiente: el cuello quedó enorme y mis intentos por arreglarlo no tuvieron éxito. La forma así más en general tampoco me entusiasma, así que estoy debatiéndome si deshacerlo y reutilizar el hilo, ya que me encanta cómo queda (es Saona de Wooldreamers (lana/algodón) junto con mohair de Rowan). Tejerlo fue aburrido y el resultado fue, bueno, decepcionante, definitivamente poco motivador. Me río por no llorar, jaja.
Afortunadamente, los otros dos proyectos han salido mejor hasta ahora (los dos aún necesitan su acabado, así que cruzo los dedos). El beige es el Haworth de Jonna Helin, hecho con Saona de Wooldreamers (lana y algodón) junto con Fine Lace de Rowan (alpaca). El verde es la blusa Cumulus de PetiteKnit, en Rosários Balada (merino y seda).
También acabo de terminar una bufanda con un patrón estilo encaje de uno de los viejos libros estonios de mi madre, tejida con una mezcla de alpaca bebé, lino y seda de Yarnitas. Este proyecto me recordó por qué no tejo bufandas: son muy largas, jejeje. También tejí un gorro con un hilo muy bonito tipo tweed, pero no tengo fotos del resultado final.
I had much better luck with embroidery this year. In summer, I made two pincushions inspired by traditional Estonian embroidery, specifically from Muhu Island.
Este año he tenido mucha más suerte con el bordado. En verano hice dos alfileteros inspirados en el bordado tradicional estonio, concretamente de la isla de Muhu.
Later, I did the annual Christmas ornament for my daughter, this time using the Piper Piping pattern by Larissa Holland (on the photo you can see the whole collection). I also made a couple of improvised gingerbread hearts as gifts.
Más tarde, hice el adorno navideño anual para mi hija, esta vez utilizando el patrón Piper Piping de Larissa Holland. Y también un par de ellos improvisando la forma de galleta de jengibre para regalar.
I used patterns from a book by Yumiko Higuchi that I got for my birthday (at Panta Rhei bookshop in Madrid they have many of her beautiful books), making one ornament and one pincushion. I love working with wool felt for these projects—it’s sturdy and makes a great base for this kind of work.
Utilicé patrones del libro de Yumiko Higuchi que me compré para mi cumpleaños (en la madrileña librería Panta Rhei tienen una variedad de sus libros, cada cual más bonito), hice un adorno y un alfiletero. Me ha gustado mucho trabajar con fieltro de lana para estos proyectos, es resistente y forma una base muy buena para trabajos así.
And that was my year in making. As always, sewing (and other crafting) brings me a lot of joy, and I’m glad I found the time for these projects. I’ve also seen how much I need it in my life, especially during periods when I haven’t been able to do it regularly (I’m a better person when I get this alone time, trust me, haha).
I’m very grateful for my community of fellow sewists and sweet students to share all of this with. Thanks for reading this far, and I hope your year was full of projects too. As for 2026, I hope for less scrolling on social media and more actual making with our own hands. We’re living in an era of change (half of what we see online isn’t even made by humans, or for humans, anymore), and I believe working on handmade projects is a powerful way to connect with something that is still very real—our time spent making and creating instead of only consuming. Lots of thoughts on that… but we’ll have plenty of time next year.

Y así fue mi año en cuanto a labores. Como siempre, coser (y otras manualidades) me hacen feliz, y me alegro de haber encontrado tiempo para estos proyectos. También me he dado cuenta de lo mucho que lo necesito en mi vida, especialmente durante los periodos en los que no he podido hacerlo con la frecuencia que me hubiese gustado (soy mejor persona cuando tengo este tiempo para mí sola, jaja).
Estoy muy agradecida a mi comunidad de compañeras costureras y a mis alumnos tan majos por compartir todo esto conmigo. Gracias por leer hasta aquí, y espero que tu año también haya estado lleno de proyectos. En cuanto a 2026, espero que pasemos menos tiempo haciendo scroll en las redes sociales y más tiempo creando con nuestras propias manos. Vivimos en una era de cambios (la mitad de lo que vemos online ni siquiera está hecho por humanos, ni para humanos, ya) y creo que trabajar en proyectos hechos a mano es una forma muy simple de conectar con algo que sigue siendo muy real: el tiempo nuestro dedicado a crear, en lugar de solo consumir. Tengo muchas ideas sobre ese tema... pero tendremos mucho tiempo el año que viene.
